What You Should Know About the United States Constitution and the Bill of Rights
Published in Paperback by Bridger House Pub (June, 1999)
Authors: John Coleman and Dr. John Coleman
Average review score:

Subjective View
The better name for this would have been "The Subjective Biased view of our Democracy-Republic Today." What John Coleman neglected to observe was that the American judicial system and jurispudence in general has changed over the last 220 years. The Constitution was made as a living document, the Founding Fathers knew that would be the only way it would hold the Nation together. Coleman's adherence to "original intent" has led him astray in his subjective views about the Communist-Democratic New World order theory. I found no critical or logical research on the viewpoints and findings that this "Dr." put into his book. I struggled to make it through chapter one and only continued because I felt the book had to be a joke. I found myself being preached to from someone on a "soapbox" rather than actually learning anything important I didn't know about the United States Constitution. If you can make it through all of Dr. John Coleman's biased and allusive comments and subjective opinions then you might like this book. Otherwise, don't waist your time.

Conscientious objector to Oklahoma babbler.
I, also, have read this book. I found many useful and worthwhile insights to the actual intent of the founding fathers in their formation of the constitution in this narrative. Many people in America today are trying very hard to forget that our founding fathers were Christians. It is this precept alone which alienates so many of their detractors. The Oklahoma babbler had no actual contention with the esteemed Dr. Coleman. His animosity must have stemmed from a disgust for all that our founders held holy, true, and redemptive. This book alone will not teach you how to spell 'waste', but it may just inspire you to look a little closer at the current laws being passed off as 'comely' in a country with it's roots deeply steeped in the word of God.

Child of the Dawn
Published in Paperback by Jove Pubns (March, 1994)
Author: Clare Coleman
Average review score:

More Europeans??
There had to be more aspects of Pre-Historic Hawaii that the author could have gone into (as in her first book) without falling back on the old cliches' and plot lines that natives in peril because of Europeans create. We know how history turned out, what we don't know is what life in ANCIENT Hawaii was like!
If I wanted to read about post-European contact Hawaii, I would read "Hawaii".
If you don't mind the storyline wandering to the European bend, this is a good average read. If you are like me and want pure Pre-historical books, skip this one.

Earthbound in Betty Grable's Shoes
Published in Paperback by Chiron Review Press (April, 1990)
Authors: Susannah Foster and Wanda Coleman

Anything on Betty Grable...
I collect Grable memorabilia which is why I bought this book. A rather depressing book of poetry - can't say I would recommend buying the book.

A Family Affair (Five Star Standard Print First Edition Romance)
Published in Hardcover by Five Star (December, 1999)
Authors: Barbara Riefe and Anne Coleman
Average review score:

Treading too close to quicksand....
That's how life starts to feel for Cheryl, but somehow she just can't stop the forward progression that may lead to the demise of all she holds dear. "A Family Affair" is a smoothly written, quick read, that I would give 3 1/2 stars.

The story starts out with David coming home from Viet Nam after escaping from a North Vietnamese prison camp; psychologically he is faced with nightmares and an unending guilt. To add to his dilemma his dad Harold, has married a woman Cheryl, 19 years his junior and only a few years older than David. Tension abounds in the day-to-day living that is their present situation. It is compounded by the fact that David has arrived on their doorstep with a bubble gum chewing, spiked heels toting wife, Angela.

The story goes on from there to work itself out in 177 pages, and is an enjoyable read for a rainy day sitting in front of the fireplace. It is a love story that has a taste of disloyalty and redemption, second thoughts, and the premise that, "People are weak and ineffectual when threatened by passion".

The author wraps it up with a telling epilogue that enlightens us as to where the characters are thirty years later. There is a predictable surprise, but an enjoyable one nonetheless. 12/15/00

Into the Maelstrom
Published in Digital by Warner Books ()
Author: Loren L. Coleman
Average review score:

A better WWIII novel than a game-based novel series lead-in
Since this was supposed to be the background for the FASA board game, I expected that when the Earth gets drawn into the Maelstrom, everyone would suddenly be at war with these alien horrors that immediately showed up; at least that was the impression I got from FASA's web site on the game. Instead it read like a distant-future version of World War Three with some occasional alien weirdness thrown in.

Average review score:

XFY-1, Naval Fighters #27
Thin book (34 pages), only b&w photos (sharp and clear)except front cover. Interesting first-person anecdotes of test andchase pilots, but short on overview of the technical challenges, design philosophy, aerodynamics. ...it's not a bad deal, but technically disappointing. END

Profiting from Emerging Market Stocks
Published in Hardcover by Prentice Hall Press (May, 1998)
Authors: Mitchell Posner and Ellen Coleman
Average review score:

a careful guide on investing in emerging equity markets
This book is a must for those seeking to diversify their portfolios. Mitchell Postner has shown the pros and cons of investing in emerging markets, such as the high currency and political risk and the high rewards that come in investing in companies that are poised to grow at a rate faster than what one would expect in North American markets.

Sister of the Sun
Published in Paperback by Jove Pubns (September, 1993)
Author: Clare Coleman
Average review score:

Here we go again with lost European explorers.
After a while it does get to be mundane, natives are afarid and amazed by their white skin, blue eyes, and clothing. They always come up with almost silly explanations for the things the strangers have, gunpowder is black sand. The Europeans are afraid of the savages but always seem to understand the language quickly and become somewhat accepted. Almost always one of them will realize the exotic things the savages have and how much they could be worth. A poor follow up from "Daughter of the Reef".

Southbound: Advice to Northerners Moving South
Published in Paperback by Southern Pub Group (January, 1997)
Authors: Heath Coleman, Susan Coleman, Michael Clen Denning, and Michael Clendening
Average review score:

FROM THE HEART OF SOUTHERN CULTURE
From the heart of Southern Culture, namely, the Mississippi Delta, I am a collector of books on humor in the South. This book is alright if you are not familiar with any funny customs of the south. It is for the most part a repeat of humor in books already printed. If you have read any Jeff Foxworthy books, this book will be a repeat of a lot of his humor. If you are not familiar with Foxworthy books, then I suggest you buy it, as it is quickly read and you will get a taste of our culture.
